Death of the Web

Well I have invested almost 200 hours in building vivainks.com and hornseaink.com. Net result approx 20 visitors per day (according to google analytical). However with the benefit of hindsight I have to confess that I am probably responsible for at least half of this traffic while checking out various links through Google, Yahoo and Facebook.

Was it worth it? Time will tell but then again I had nothing else to do following surgery, I can't put my shoes on but I can use a laptop in bed..! I will be back at work soon enough but I have started to question the Internet revolution, has it been hijacked by "the big company" have the masses lost the will and power to survive? The net was a safe and "free" haven for the nerds, free information and arguably honest dialogue (or your interpretation of reality). However, as a poor soul trying to eek out a living using this powerful and so called "free" medium I find that to get to the top of Google with key words they want £4,000 per week. No problem I hear you cry, SEO's will do it for less. £300 per month to promote my hard work. How can this be fair? I can sit and admire my own creation and sell nothing...without the middle man, the man in the know and the man that now holds the keys to the "free" web. In other words my new work of art remains worthless unless I am prepared to pay..

Sad, very sad. Well I will be back soon with more moans....
